The iPod Touch Review
The iPod Touch is very different from the other iPods in Apple’s product line of the same name. The iPod Touch is more of a miniature computer that also serves as a audio and video content delivery system than it is a traditional iPod. The iPod touch actually bridges the gap between the iPod and the full functionality of the iPhone. The iPod touch is a consumer electronics device that really has no match. It is smaller and more convenient than a tablet computer and yet it is versatile enough that it could be used as a smart phone if you are within range of a Wi-Fi connection and have an app on the device like Skype.
The iPod Touch is 4.4 inches high, 2.32 inches wide, and a mere 0.28 inches thick. It weighs 3.56 ounces and has a 3.5 inch diagonal wide screen multi touch display that has a 960 x 640 pixel resolution, thats an incredible 326 pixels per inch. It also is fully wireless ready and has the ability for a blue tooth interface. There is a built in microphone and a built in camera. This is an incredible machine.
The camera allows for HD wide screen recording with audio and still photographs at 960 x 720 resolution. It can also interface directly with an Apple Macintosh or a Windows PC and is fully capable of syncing content between the two. The battery is lithium-ion and allows for 7 hours of continuous video playback or over 40 hours of audio playback. The battery can be charged in 2-4 hours, the length dependent upon on the method by which it is charged.
This device is a small computer. It can be used to surf the internet, view websites, interface with others via Skype, and even interface with popular word processing programs and formats. There is really no limit to the ways in which an iPod Touch can be used including, as mentioned earlier, as a full fledged phone as long as it is within range of a Wi-Fi connection. The iPod Touch is for anyone that wants the power of a computer in a smaller package than an iPad and without the high cost of a phone contract that comes with the iPhone.
